Andrea “Andy” Jane Paget passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at the age of 45. Born and raised in Calgary, Andrea was known for her warmth, determination, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She carried a strength she learned from her late father, Roy, whose memory she believed lived on in every eagle’s flight and in the glow of sun-touched Japanese maple leaves.
Growing up, Andrea spent summers camping in Qualicum, forging a deep connection to nature, the beach, and the ocean, which stayed with her throughout her life. She especially loved walking her dogs and had a fondness for hummingbirds. She could often be found sitting at her kitchen table for her “tea time”, watching them hover and dart in the morning light, all the while dreaming of cruises or trips to Parksville or Gunnerside in the UK as her dogs bathed in the sun. Though not religious, Andrea believed in the energy that binds us all—a sentiment that guided her gentle yet strong and giving spirit.
Above all else, Andrea was a mum. She held her boys, Stirling (8) and Gunner (11), at the very center of her world, loving them beyond measure, finding her greatest joy in every smile they offered. She found contentment in the simple moments—picking her children up from school each day, volunteering on the PAC to ensure all kids felt supported, and savouring family traditions, especially those surrounding Christmas. Even as she faced her second bout with inflammatory breast cancer, Andrea’s love for her community shone through. From her hospital bed, she organized Grade 5 hoodies for Kelset School so the kids could enjoy them all year. If you drive by the school now, you’ll see a sea of comfy hoodies she helped bring to life—a big, comforting hug she extended to all those kiddos.
Her selfless heart extended beyond what most people ever saw, and she carried every one of her children in her thoughts and heart. Andrea was also a devoted sister—affectionately known as “Pooh Bear” by her brother, Ian Hewitt. Ian, his wife Farrah, and their children Talia and Lochlan were a cherished part of her life, as was her mother, Elizabeth, who survives her and whose resilience Andrea deeply admired.
Andrea wished for no formal funeral. Instead, her family plans to host a celebration at her home in the coming months, once the mud gives way to fresh grass—just as Andrea loved to see nature renewing itself. She would want friends and neighbours to gather in laughter, share fond memories, and continue the love she poured into her community and her family. Those wishing to honour her spirit can do so by supporting Stirling and Gunner—whether through a kind gesture, a shared story, or simply being there for them—as so many have already done. Your continued support helps her presence live on in the warmth of every new day. Until then, her husband, Chad, and their sons invite those who knew Andrea to remember her by carrying forward the kindness and generosity she so freely offered. With every shared memory and every act of compassion, Andrea Jane Paget will be remembered not for the battles she fought but for the countless lives she touched and the lasting imprint of her love on all who knew her.
